Libertarian Candidates “All In the Family”
Posted by libertypoint on Monday, August 05, 2002 - 03:10 PM 3110 Reads
Campaigns It is an old adage that “politics makes strange bedfellows,” but for Libertarians in North Carolina, politics are “all in the family.” There are six married couples, three fathers and their combined five offspring, and two brothers among the 150 Libertarians running office in the 2002 elections across the state.

Planning/Zoning Tips for Libertarians
Posted by libertypoint on Monday, August 05, 2002 - 03:08 PM 5082 Reads
Campaigns For my fellow county commission candidates (and others), read the Campaign Report in the August '02 LP News. Jim Lenahan is the Libertarian candidate for Suwanee (GA) city council and he has served on the city's planning commission. Makes some excellent points about balancing property rights.

Libertarian School Board Candidate Calls for Voluntary Service
Posted by matt7267 on Monday, March 11, 2002 - 01:25 PM 2986 Reads
Campaigns Citing budget woes at the county and state level and a shortage in funding for Moore County Schools, Board of Education candidate Matt McWilliams recently called for the current board to serve voluntarily. “The current board currently takes in $36,400 a year in money that could be used in the classrooms or returned to the taxpayers,” McWilliams said Sunday.

Note: McWilliams is a newcomer to politics, and should be interesting to watch-- it seems as if he's really doing well at capturing the attention of his local media. While it's not a Libertyboard.org practice to publish PR, an exception can be made from time to time.

When Reform, isn't
Posted by Anonymous on Tuesday, March 05, 2002 - 07:32 PM 6819 Reads
Campaigns free-market.net is running an article on the campaign finance reform that has been a hot topic lately- their conclusion is what you might expect- that
In fact, across the board, campaign finance proposals seem designed to entrench the position of politicians -- and to either disadvantage their critics, or to muzzle them outright.
